Kristy’s Yams

6 Garnet Yams, peeled and sliced into 1 inch slices
6 cinnamon sticks
8 cloves
1 cup water
1 cup light brown sugar
1 stick of butter

Boil Yams for approximetly 6 minutes or until yams turn orange. Drain. Set aside.
Add 1 cup water to small saucepan with the cinnamon sticks and cloves. Boil until reduced to 1/2 cup. Add brown sugar and butter. Cook for another 10 minutes, until syrup consistency. Stirring often.
Butter a moderate size casserole pan with lid. Add yams. Pour over cinnamon mixture, let soak for at least one hour up to overnight
